Terms of Service

Welcome to Meowmbai™ ("Meowmbai", "we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using www.meowmbai.fun (the "Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. What Meowmbai Is

Meowmbai is a community-powered project to document community cats across a growing set of Indian cities. Users contribute cat photos, approximate locations, names, and captions. The Platform visualises this data on a public map, scoped to the city it was submitted in. Meowmbai is not an animal welfare organisation and does not guarantee the welfare, identity, or current whereabouts of any cat.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Meowmbai. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Platform you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at meowmbai.fun@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Content You Upload

You retain ownership of photos and captions you upload. By uploading, you grant Meowmbai a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, distribute, and promote your content on the Platform and in marketing materials. This licence ends when you delete your content, except where it has been shared by others or is required for legal compliance.

You confirm that any photo you upload:

• Was taken by you or you have the rights holder's permission to use it.
• Does not knowingly expose private individuals, children, or sensitive locations.
• Does not infringe any third-party copyright, trademark, or privacy right.
• Accurately represents a cat sighting in a city the Platform covers, to the best of your knowledge.

5. Missing Cat Reports

Meowmbai lets you report a cat as missing and lets other users submit tips if they've seen or found that cat ("Missing Cat Reports"). This section applies in addition to the rest of these Terms.

• No account is required to submit a report or a tip - submissions are tied to your device, not a verified identity.
• Contact details you provide (phone, email, or social handle) are not shown on the public listing itself. They can be revealed by any visitor who requests them, subject to rate limits. Meowmbai does not verify the identity of anyone who reveals or uses this information, and does not mediate, screen, or vouch for any contact that results. Only provide contact details you're comfortable having shown to any visitor who asks.
• Do not offer or reference cash rewards, payment, or prizes in a report or tip - this is flagged for review.
• An open report is automatically archived approximately 30 days after posting. You can ask us to remove your report sooner at meowmbai.fun@gmail.com.
• We do not guarantee that a report will result in a cat being found, that any tip is accurate, or that anyone who reveals your contact information will act in good faith.

Reports and tips are content for the purposes of these Terms and are subject to the Prohibited Conduct and Moderation rules in Sections 6 and 7.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

• Upload content that is false, misleading, or fabricated, including fake or duplicate missing cat reports and tips.
• Upload content that depicts animal abuse or cruelty.
• Harass, stalk, or doxx any person through the Platform.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer exact locations from fuzzed coordinates.
• Use a Missing Cat Report's contact-reveal feature to collect contact details for any purpose other than helping locate that cat.
• Upload malware, spam, or automated content without our written permission.
• Scrape or harvest data from the Platform beyond normal use.
• Impersonate any person or organisation.
• Use the Platform for any commercial purpose without prior written consent.

7. Moderation

All uploads are reviewed - automatically by AI and, where necessary, by human moderators - before appearing publicly. We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, at our sole discretion and without notice.

8. Location Data

Exact coordinates you provide are stored privately and are never disclosed publicly. All map markers, including Missing Cat Report locations, display a fuzzed location offset by 50–150 metres to protect private properties and individuals. You must not attempt to circumvent this fuzzing.

9. Intellectual Property

The Meowmbai name, wordmark, design system, and software are owned by Meowmbai™ and may not be reproduced without written permission. Content contributed by users is owned by those users, subject to the licence granted in Section 4. See our Copyright Policy for ownership details and the takedown process.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that information is accurate, complete, or up to date. Cat sighting data and Missing Cat Reports are entirely user-generated and unverified.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Meowmbai shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Meowmbai harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your violation of these Terms or your uploaded content.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated via the Platform.
