Copyright Policy

Meowmbai respects intellectual property rights and expects contributors to do the same. This policy covers who owns what, the licence you grant us by uploading, and how we handle copyright complaints and takedown requests.

What you own

You retain full ownership and copyright of every photo you upload. By uploading, you grant Meowmbai a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and distribute your content on the Platform, create thumbnails and optimised versions, and use it in promotional material for Meowmbai (social media, press) with attribution. This licence ends when you delete the content, except where copies have already been cached or shared by third parties.

What Meowmbai owns

The Meowmbai name, wordmark, interface design, and original written content (About page, UI copy) are owned by Meowmbai™ and may not be reproduced without written permission. Aggregated, anonymised cat data (neighbourhood-level counts) may be freely cited for non-commercial research or journalism with attribution.

What you may upload

Only upload photos you took yourself, or photos for which you have explicit written permission from the copyright holder. Do not upload photos sourced from Google Images, stock photo sites, social media, or news publications.

Reporting a copyright violation

If you believe content on Meowmbai infringes your copyright, send a written complaint to meowmbai.fun@gmail.com including:

  • Your full name and contact details.
  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  • The URL of the allegedly infringing content on Meowmbai.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised.
  • A statement that the information in your complaint is accurate, under penalty of perjury.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Takedown process

We act on valid complaints within 72 hours:

  1. Complaint received and logged.
  2. Content temporarily hidden pending review.
  3. Uploader notified and given 7 days to respond.
  4. Content removed or restored based on outcome.
  5. Complainant notified of decision.

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake, email meowmbai.fun@gmail.com with your counter-notice. If valid, content is restored within 14 business days.

Repeat infringement policy

Accounts with three or more upheld copyright violations within 12 months will be permanently banned from the Platform.
