Safety
Last updated: 20 June 2026
Meowmbai is built around care - for cats, and for the people who document them. This page explains the safety systems we have in place.
Image moderation
Every uploaded photo passes through an automated AI review followed by human moderation before appearing publicly. We check for:
- Presence of a cat (primary purpose of the platform).
- Visible human faces, particularly children.
- Signs of animal distress or harm.
- Inappropriate or harmful content.
Content that does not meet our standards is held in a review queue and never displayed publicly until approved.
Location privacy
We fuzz all public map markers by 50–150 metres. Your exact coordinates are never publicly visible. This protects private residences, compounds, and individuals from location-based harm.
Human and child protection
Photos where a person's face is clearly identifiable are removed during moderation. Photos containing identifiable children are always removed, regardless of context. If you spot such content, use the report button immediately.
Animal welfare
Meowmbai does not promote, condone, or facilitate harm to animals. Content depicting animal abuse is removed immediately and may be referred to relevant authorities. If you believe a cat in a sighting is in distress, please contact your local animal welfare organisation directly. Meowmbai cannot intervene on the ground.
Anti-harassment
We do not tolerate harassment of any contributor. If you are being targeted through the platform, email meowmbai.fun@gmail.com with details. We will respond within 24 hours.
Reporting
You can report any content using the Report Content page. Reports are reviewed within 48 hours. Urgent safety concerns are escalated immediately.
Contact for safety concerns
